Cruz Azul Teen Grateful For Opportunity
The 'cementeros' 15-year old prodigy Martín Galván, made his official debut in the CONCACAF Liga de Campeones against Saprissa on Tuesday.
Having accomplished that feat, the 15-year old indicated that the hardest is yet to come, maintaining himself on the first team.
“I am very happy with the opportunity the coach gave me,” stated the overjoyed teenager. “I am conscious that there is more I need to learn, but I believe that with my work in training and participation in games, I will earn the coaches confidence.”
The Mexico U-17 player also indicated that his teammates support has been fundamental in making a seamless integration into first team action.
“The confidence that all my teammates have transmitted has been important in making me feel secure on the pitch,” said Galván.
“I hope everything continues on this path...so I can be considered more frequently.”
The youngster has featured for Mexico at the youth level and recently attracted the interest of French team Olympique Lyon during the Gradisca Tournament in Italy, where the Mexico U-17 won third place and Galván was top goalscoarer.
Martín Galván made his professional debut at the age of 14 in an official match of the InterLiga tournament in January 2008, when he came in as a substitute in the 85th minute against Monterrey in Cruz Azul’s 1-0 victory.
