Diego Reyes left out of Porto’s Champions League squad

The former America youngster has found playing time hard to come by since moving to Portugal.

Mexico international Diego Reyes will not be featuring for Porto in this season’s Champions League group stage.
The 21-year-old defender was left out of the squad by coach Julen Lopetegui on Wednesday.

Reyes joined Porto in the summer of 2013 and played most of last season in Porto’s reserve team in the second division, although he did get into the Mexico squad for the World Cup and played the second half of the Round of 16 match against the Netherlands.
The former America player hasn’t featured so far this season in Porto’s league campaign and missed out on El Tri coach Miguel Herrera’s squad to face Chile and Bolivia, but he did feature for 51 minutes in Porto’s 2-0 victory over Lille in the Champions League qualification round.
Teammate and fellow Olympic gold medal winner Hector Herrera was registered with Porto for the Champions League and is looking like being an increasingly important presence in the team’s midfield this season.
