thumbnail Hello,

The center back scored two goals and anchored a shutout performance as RSL thrashed a strong D.C. United team.

One of the steadier center backs in MLS when healthy, Chris Schuler occasionally shows off flashes of something special.

Real Salt Lake's 3-0 win against D.C. United on Saturday was one of those occasions.

The 26-year-old rose to nod home his first goal of 2014 in the 13th minute, then steered home his second tally of the game 11 minutes later to give RSL a three-goal lead against a fellow Supporters' Shield contender. As United tried to fight back, Schuler anchored Salt Lake's defense en route to the shutout.

Joining Schuler in the back line for Goal USA's MLS Team of the Week is FC Dallas center back Matt Hedges, who scored his third goal of the year and came up with a goal-line clearance in a 3-1 win over Colorado. Portland Timbers newcomer Liam Ridgewell makes the squad as well after leading all players this past week with 14 clearances in a 2-0 triumph against Chivas USA.

The team's right back is Vancouver veteran Steven Beitashour, who won seven duels as the Whitecaps notched a shutout win over Kansas City. And the Seattle Sounders' Stefan Frei gets the nod in goal after stopping Brad Davis' penalty kick during a 2-0 victory against Houston.

Michel makes the team in defensive midfield after he, like his Dallas teammate Hedges, scored a goal and made a goal-line clearance against Colorado. With two assists and a 53-for-57 passing day, RSL maestro Javier Morales is in our midfield as well. He's joined by Vancouver playmaker Pedro Morales, who won eight duels and set up Darren Mattocks' strike.

Philadelphia Union winger Sebastien Le Toux makes the cut on the right flank thanks to his two-goal performance against Montreal. After notching two assists and a late winner for Toronto FC at Columbus, forward Luke Moore also makes an appearance in our team. And rounding out the lineup is San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski, who delivered a goal and a cheeky backheel assist in a tie against the LA Galaxy.
