Colorado Rapids 2-3 Sporting Kansas City

His goal against Panama made him an unlikely hero for Mexico, which he'll face again this week, but Graham Zusi is doing well domestically, too.

"The U.S. national team midfielder finds himself in fine form ahead of the Americans' midweek friendly versus Mexico after sparking Sporting KC to a dramatic win in Colorado. Zusi opened the scoring by making a far-post run to tap home a Sal Zizzo pass, then set up Benny Feilhaber's 78th-minute equalizer with a crafty cross from the left flank. Zusi capped his performance by slipping in Dom Dwyer for Sporting's stoppage-time winner," wrote Goal USA's Thomas Floyd.

His afternoon lifted the MLS Cup champions to victory. He'll likely continue to be venerated in the Midwest and in Mexico as a hero, but if he can string together more performances such as the one he put in Saturday, we may be looking at "Graham Zusi: American Hero" this summer.

Congratulations to Graham Zusi, Goal's 16th CONCACAF Player of the Week winner!

  The Shortlist

Guillermo Ochoa - Ajaccio

"Against Toulouse, Ochoa stood tall and helped his team secure a 2-2 draw by stopping nine shots and a saving a Jonathan Zebina penalty in the last minute of the game. Ochoa pulled some superb reflex saves, like when he stopped a Serge Aurier shot or a Ben Yedder free kick that was going straight to the roof of his net. He also won a one-on-one duel against Etienne Didot early in the game. A rich performance," wrote Goal France's Hocine Harzoune.

Carlos Vela - Real Sociedad

Vela's form had finally cooled after an explosive run to close 2013 and begin the new year. After his spectacular showing Thursday, in which he scored the winning goal against Real Valladolid, then assisted Sociedad's only goal days later in a 1-1 draw with Osasuna, he might be ready to do it again.

Alvaro Saborio - Real Salt Lake

Saborio was the striker for Goal's MLS Team of the Week. "The Costa Rican drew and converted a penalty kick to open the scoring, then got behind Toronto's defense to complete his brace," wrote Thomas Floyd.

Oribe Peralta - Santos

He's getting rested for Mexico's friendly against the United States with his World Cup trip already booked, but Peralta still turned in a strong performance this weekend. The striker scored a brace to lift his club to a 2-1 Liga MX victory against Pumas.
