Dominic Kinnear suspended for playoff game

Kinnear will miss the home leg of his team's matchup against New York, and a slew of other punishments were meted out after the game-end fracas between Houston Montreal.
After two Eastern Conference titles in the past two years, the Houston Dynamo will have to navigate the home leg of their conference semifinal against the New York Red Bulls without their mastermind, head coach Dominic Kinnear.

Kinnear's suspension is the highest profile punishment handed out after a melee at the end of Houston's 3-0 first round win over Montreal which saw two Impact players sent off. Kinnear was punished for leaving his technical area during the 89th-minute kerfuffle. He will be banned from the sideline and the locker room during the match at BBVA Compass Stadium on Sunday.

Houston was fined $5,000 for mass confrontation, its first such fine.

Montreal, no stranger to the mass confrontation, was slammed with a $25,000 penalty, with head coach Marco Schallibaum on the hook for a further $2,500. Montreal players Marco Di Vaio and Andres Romer had their automatic one-game suspensions extended to three for violent conduct, and were fined $1,000 and $250, respectively.
