MLS Preview: Seattle Sounders FC - Chicago Fire

The Fire travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the red-hot Sounders in a nationally-televised Saturday night affair.
The Sounders will be shorthanded, but are as hot as any team in MLS heading into Saturday night's match against the Chicago Fire on NBC Sports Network.

Without Clint Dempsey, Eddie Johnson (international duty) and Brad Evans (injury), Seattle still defeated Chivas USA 1-0 at home Wednesday night, the club's sixth win in its last seven league matches.

With the aforementioned trio missing, the Sounders also had to manage without DP forward Obafemi Martins against the Goats, though a Lamar Neagle goal meant the club didn't need the Nigerian's services. Sounders coach Sigi Schmid is hopeful Martins will be ready against the Fire, calling the striker "day-to-day."

The Fire come into the match on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, and will also be missing players due to international duty, as midfielder Arevalo Rios (Uruguay) and Joel Lindpere (Estonia) will be away with their respective national teams.

The Fire are 0-4-3 all-time in MLS regular season matches played against the Sounders, including a 0-2-1 record on the road. This will be the first and only meeting between the teams during the regular season.
