  • Real Salt Lake has a winning record against the Red Bulls, going 5-3-7 in their all-time series. The club is only 1-3-3 on the road against New York, though.
  • This offseason, the Red Bulls traded for two of RSL's players getting Fabian Espindola and Jamison Olave, and signed another RSL alum, Johnny Steele.
  • Both teams are contending teams in their conferences with RSL on top of MLS's Western Conference and the Red Bulls sitting in third in the Eastern conference.
  • Real Salt Lake will happily welcome the end of the Gold Cup, as Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando and Tony Beltran remain on duty with the U.S. national team through Sunday's final. The club did get Costa Rican forward Alvaro Saborio back from international duty, though.
  • Third-string goalkeeper Jeff Attinella will be making the second start of his career for RSL as the club waits for Rimando to return. Backup Josh Saunders suffered a torn ACL.
  • Thierry Henry, who will be part of the MLS All-Star Game, has seven goals and four assists to lead the Red Bulls in both categories. Defender Brandon Barklage also has four assists.
