MLS Preview: Houston Dynamo - Chicago Fire

The Dynamo return from a bye week looking for their third win in a row in a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference wildcard round.

  • This is the second meeting this year between the two teams who were in the Eastern Conference wildcard round a season ago. Houston took the April 14 meet by a 2-1 scoreline.
  • The Dynamo have won their last two games after a seven-game winless skid and sits in fifth place in the East with 29 points from 19 games.
  • Houston played English Premier League side Stoke City in a friendly this week, coming out on top 2-0 behind goals from Andrew Driver and Giles Barnes. Brad Davis returned from his hamstring injury as a second-half substitute.
  • Chicago is coming off a 4-1 rout of D.C. United, in which Chris Rolfe scored twice and Joel Lindpere netted a goal and two assists.
  • Patrick Nyarko is set to return for the Fire after battling strep throat, while in-form winger Dilly Duka could miss out because of a hamstring injury.
  • The Fire made a significant addition this week, adding Ecuadorian forward Juan Luis Anangono as a Designated Player.
  • The Gold Cup has claimed a pair of would-be starters for either side, as Chicago goalkeeper Sean Johnson and Houston forward Will Bruin remain with the USA through Sunday's final against Panama.
