Santos Laguna duo Benji Joya and Daniel Cuevas are among those included for the pre-World Cup tournament, while Hertha Berlin center back John Anthony Brooks remains absent.
Santos Laguna attackers Benji Joya and Daniel Cuevas, Columbus Crew midfielder Will Trapp and Southampton goalkeeper Cody Cropper, cornerstones of the U-20 side that finished second to Mexico in the 2013 CONCACAF Championship, highlight the squad for the 10-team competition that acts as a tuneup for this summer's FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
One of the new faces is Monterrey attacker Alonso Hernandez, who has started to get first-team minutes with Los Rayados. Midfielder Marlon Hairston and forward Jordan Morris are coming off their first U.S. youth camp at any level following last month's training camp.
Among the absent is Hertha Berlin's talented German-American center back John Anthony Brooks. Ramos recently told ESPN that he was closing in on a commitment to the U.S. U-20s after recent interest from Germany. MLS youngsters Luis Gil, Jose Villarreal and DeAndre Yedlin have also been omitted, with club commitments taking precedent.
"Obviously we’re excited for the tournament and to have this last chance to evaluate our team heading into the U-20 World Cup," Ramos said in a U.S. Soccer press release. "We’ll have a couple players who have not been with us before and some others who we want to look at a little more as we finalize our 21-player roster. All of the players are being considered for Turkey."
The USA is in a group with host France, Congo DR, South Korea and Colombia. The other group contains Mexico, Brazil, Belgium, Nigeria and Portugal. The first U.S. game will be May 28 against host France.
