  • However, when the sides met in the 2012 U.S. Open Cup final, SKC won on penalties after a 1-1 result. The Sounders had won the tournament the three years prior.
  • Kansas City beat Chivas USA 4-0 last weekend to move tied for first in the East with 17 points from 10 games. Seattle is bottom of the West with six points from seven games.
  • Kei Kamara returned from a loan at Norwich City this week and is available for the first time in the 2013 season.
  • Lamar Neagle and DeAndre Yedlin are suspended for Seattle. Paulo Nagamura will miss the match for Sporting.
