The Sounder waived a 2012 draft pick to make way for a 2013 selection, adding UVA product WIll Bates.
The Seattle Sounders announced a pair of player transactions on Friday, signing Supplemental Draft pick Will Bates and releasing defender Andrew Duran.

"Will is dangerous in the box and always plays hard," said Sounders FC Sporting Director Chris Henderson in a PRess release. "He can score with both feet and with his head. He provides us with depth at forward and we are excited to have him in Seattle."

Bates appeared in 77 matches over four seasons at Virginia, tallying 46 goals with 10 assists. He was selected by the Sounders with the fifth overall selection in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft

Duran was selected by the Sounders in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. He made no appearances for the team.

"Today, I am proud and excited to say that I have officially signed with the Seattle Sounders... Thanks to all for the love and support!" Bates wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.
