Chivas USA 0-1 Colorado Rapids: Penalties go Deshorn Brown's way

Colorado posted a second 1-0 win in a week, following up a win over Real Salt Lake with a victory in Los Angeles.
The Colorado Rapids and Chivas USA each had a penalty and Deshorn Brown tucked his away to give the visitor a 1-0 win in the Home Depot Center on Saturday.

The lone goal came early. Eric Avila stumbled over Deshorn Brown in the box in the sixth minute. Brown stepped forward and coolly finished the penalty.

The host had a chance to level the score from the spot half an hour later. Shane O'Neill shouldered Jose Correa out of the way when both went for a bouncing ball in the box. Correa clanked his penalty off the crossbeam. Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin has faced penalties in his first four starts, an MLS record.

Drew Moor made his return from suspension -- earned from a red card the last time he was in Los Angeles, against the Galaxy -- off the bench at halftime, replacing Nick LaBrocca. The last time Moor began a game on the bench was Sept. 13, 2006 when he played for FC Dallas, versus Chivas USA.

Brown once again beat Dan Kennedy an hour into play. However, the assistant referee's raised flag annulled the goal and the Rapids settled for the one-goal win.
