Colorado Rapids 2-2 Portland Timbers: Both sides still searching for first win

The Colorado Rapids were unable to earn their first win as they hosted the Portland Timbers.
It was an entertaining encounter as the Colorado Rapids hosted Portland Timbers, though both teams are still without a win after leaving Dick’s Sporting Goods Park with a 2-2 result.

The Rapids started the match off strong and rookie Dillon Powers gave the team the first goal of the day. In the 18th minute Nick LaBrocca sent a pass to Powers and the 22-year old gave the Rapids a 1-0 lead as he unleashed a rocket of a goal from well outside the box.

In the 47th minute Portland's Diego Chara tripped up Tony Cascio in the box.  Rapids captain Hendry Thomas took the penalty kick, scoring his first goal, and gave his club a 2-0 lead over the Timbers.

But Portland would fight back into the match. In the 55th minute, Ryan Johnson found an unmarked Will Johnson with a delicate cross. The Timbers' captain headed it into the back of the net, making the score 2-1

In the 71st minute Atiba Harris was called for a foul on David Horst as the two battled for position on a corner. The ref awarded the second penalty kick of the match, allowing Johnson to net his second goal of the match and tie it up 2-2.
