New York signs Colorado's Akpan

The 25-year-old striker spent the first three seasons of his MLS career with the Colorado Rapids before joining the Red Bulls on Thursday.
The New York Red Bulls have signed striker Andre Akpan from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for a conditional 2015 MLS draft pick.

Akpan, 25, was selected by Colorado out of Harvard University in 2010. He played 29 games for the Rapids, scoring 4 goals.

“Andre is strong, physical forward with MLS experience and will provide another attacking option for our coaching staff,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh. “We are pleased to sign him and look forward to his contributions in the coming season.”
