San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 Seattle Sounders: Long-range Chris Wondolowsi blast seals win

A long-range Chris Wondolowski strike on the stroke of halftime separated the two sides despite Seattle's dominance in possession.
The Seattle Sounders have one point three games into the 2013 MLS season after losing 1-0 to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday. Sounders FC held over 60 percent of possession and out shot the Quakes 16-12.

"We’re feeling momentum," Shea Salinas said.

But San Jose had the one shot that counted. In first-half stoppage time, a long punted ball fell to Chris Wondolowski. Last year's MLS top scorer wrapped his foot around the ball from outside the box, sending a sizzling shot that nestled in the net after clipping the post on the way in.

"He had some great chances tonight and he finished the hardest one of all of them," Frank Yallop said. "That is what I like about Chris. He never hangs his head and he keeps pushing, looking for the opportunities even if he has missed some earlier in the game. That was a great finish tonight."

Wondolowski has two goals this year.
