The naming rights to the Carson, Calif., soccer complex will be changing this summer, 10 years after it opened as home of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
The Home Depot Center will be renamed the StubHub Center starting this June, ending a 10-year run for what has become a household stadium name across the U.S. soccer community. Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns the venue and the Galaxy, announced the changing of the naming-rights guard on Monday.
Located in Carson, Calif., The Home Depot Center has hosted five MLS Cup finals -- the most of any venue -- including the last two, which were both won by the Galaxy. The soccer-specific stadium at the facility has also been the home for Chivas USA since the club's inception in 2005 while being a regular January home for the U.S. men's national team's annual training camp.
According to AEG's announcement, the first match in the re-branded venue will be the June 19 clash between the Galaxy and Portland Timbers.
