The Canadian national team center back returns to San Jose after a stint with Finland’s Haka FC.
Nana Attakora will be returning to the San Jose Earthquakes for the 2013 season, the club announced on Friday. Attakora played with the Earthquakes in 2011 and then moved to Finland to play with Haka FC, where he played just a handful of games.
Earthquakes’ head coach Frank Yallop said that he’s happy the 23-year-old Canadian is back with the current MLS Supporters' Shield holder.
“We’re happy to have Nana back to add some depth to our center backs. We never wanted to see him go, but he looked sharp during his stint in Europe and we look forward to having him in an Earthquakes jersey once again,” Yallop stated via club press release.
Prior to joining San Jose, Attakora made 50 apperances with his hometown side Toronto FC and also has five caps with the Canadian national team.
The Earthquakes now have nine defenders signed up for the upcoming season. Per league and team policy, terms of Attakora's deal were not disclosed.
