Brendan King returned to Illinois by signing for the Chicago Fire on Thursday.
The 22-year-old spent 2012 in Europe, first with Alta IF in Norway and then with Bray Wanderers AFC in the Republic of Ireland. He made eight appearances between the two teams, only one coming with Bray Wanderers. Drafted by the Portland Timbers, the former Notre Dame midfielder is returning to MLS.
“Brendan is a local product that we have watched over the years,” said Fire President of Soccer Operations Javier Leon. “He is a talented, versatile player and it speaks highly of our player development system that we are able to add him to the first team roster.”
King also played in the 2007 U-17 World Cup for the United States.
