The Seattle team MVP and MLS Best XI midfielder will be training with the London club for a week before returning ahead of MLS preseason.
Count Osvaldo Alonso among the few handful of MLS players training with clubs overseas to stay in shape ahead of the upcoming season.

Alonso, the Seattle Sounders' All-Star and MLS Best XI midfielder and three-time team MVP, is with English Premier League club West Ham for a week-long trainign stint. It marks the second time Alonso has gone overseas in the MLS offseason, previously doing so after the 2010 season to train with Everton along with teammate Steve Zakuani.

Alonso, who became a U.S. citizen this year, defected from Cuba in 2007 after appearing in CONCACAF Gold Cup matches for the Cuban national team. He and his representatives have appealed to FIFA in hopes of having him granted U.S. national team eligibility.

He joins the likes of Kei Kamara (Stoke City), Austin Berry and Jalil Anibaba (Atletico Madrid), Juan Agudelo (Celtic), Freddy Adu (Galatasaray), Michael Farfan and Amobi Okugo (SC Freiburg), among plenty other MLS players to spend time this offseason with foreign clubs.
