Designated player Kenny Miller has been given permission by the Vancouver Whitecaps to train with his old club in the offseason.
The Vancouver Whitecaps announced Thursday that they have granted permission to their high-priced striker to join Rangers for offseason training, with the 32-year-old set to rejoin the 'Caps when the MLS side's preseason begins early next year.
Miller was a Rangers player on two separate occasions, first joining the Glasgow giant in 2000-2001, and returning to the club in 2008 for a three-season spell. He has also played for Rangers' bitter rival Celtic, as well as other clubs in Scotland, England, Turkey, and Wales.
The Scottish international joined Vancouver midway through the 2012 MLS season, and scored two goals in 13 league games.
The Whitecaps open preseason training camp on Jan. 20, 2013.
