Impact dismiss three players, announce 25-man roster for Italy camp

The Montreal Impact announced its 25-man roster for the postseason training camp and confirmed that three players will not be returning next season.

After club president Joey Saputo named nine players on Wednesday that would definitely be returning with the Impact next year, the team confirmed on Friday that midfielder Evan James, along with defenders Shavar Thomas and Josh Gardner, would not.

The Impact also announced that 25 players would make the trip for the team’s training camp in Bologna and Florence, including five players from the academy: goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, defender Maxim Tissot, midfielders Wandrille Lefevre and Zakaria Messoudi, and forward Mircea Ilcu.

Brazilian midfielder Felipe will not make the trip as he recovers from a sports hernia. Nelson Rivas will travel with the team and continue treatment for his left knee injury, but he will not take part in any game action.

During the postseason training camp in Italy, the Impact will face Bologna FC on Nov. 8 and Fiorentina on Nov. 15.
