With the playoffs out of reach, Chivas USA made two new appointments to its front office, with the changes taking effect immediately.
David has spent the last 13 years in the United States and has experience with Mexican multi-national corporations, such as his role as the financial director of Megamex Foods.
“I am very proud to be part of the Grupo Omnilife-Chivas,” David said in a press release. “Definitely the goal is to be a leader in Major League Soccer. We will be generating a new era in the organization similar to the standards of success of Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes.”
Vergara and his wife, Fuentes, took sole control of Chivas USA earlier in the season, buying out the Cue brothers. Instantly, speculation centered on general manager Jose Domene's position. The release didn't mention Domene, but did give a role supervising Chivas USA's on-field operations to 'El Guero' Real, the Chivas de Guadalara technical director.
“Real will supervise all soccer operations for Chivas USA – including coaching staff, players, academy and player development," David said. "Real will continue to reside primarily in Guadalajara (Mexico), where he currently is the Director of Athletic Development for Chivas, but will visit Los Angeles with regularity to make his appropriate supervisions accordingly with the area of soccer operations."
Real formerly coached Atlas, where he spent most of his playing career, and Chivas. He also headed Guadalajara's youth academy.
Chivas USA is already eliminated from 2012 playoff contention.
