With the Montreal Impact's season coming to an end in three weeks’ time, the president of A.S Livorno Calcio, Aldo Spinelli, told TuttoMercatoWeb on Friday that he’s serious about bringing Alessandro Nesta back to Italy on loan.
"Indeed, I’m hoping to have him [Nesta] with us from October to March, when their season isn’t on," Spinelli said. "For now, there’s nothing [concrete], but we’re hopeful."
There has been contact between the two clubs as Spinelli also said that a friendly between the two sides is being arranged for January.
"The news that I can give you now is that in the first or second week of January we will have a friendly match with the Impact in Livorno" Spinelli said.
The Impact have yet to unveil their schedule for next year’s preseason training camp, but a friendly in Livorno would suggest that the first part of camp will likely take place in Italy, something that the Impact have done in the past.
