San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 Portland Timbers: Substitute Wondolowski at the double

A Chris Wondolowski double canceled out Danny Mwanga's earlier pair to leave Portland and San Jose knotted at two apiece.
Chris Wondolowski rolled off the bench and scored twice to salvage a 2-2 draw for the San Jose Earthquakes. Danny Mwanga had earlier put the Portland Timbers two-goals up in Buck Shaw Stadium.

Portland opened the scoring immediately before halftime. Danny Mwanga played a one-two with Rodney Wallace that set him free through the Earthquakes defense. Mwanga rounded Jon Busch and finished.

After and hour, the Timbers, featuring third-string goalkeeper Joe Bendik, moved two goals ahead. Frank Songo'o went on a mazy run from his own half and laid the ball off to Mwanga. The 21-year-old uncorked from distance and the shot screamed past Busch.

San Jose threw Alan Gordon and Chris Wondolowski into the match. It paid off. Gordon headed on a long ball out of the back, which Steven Lenhart tapped into the path of Wondolowski. The leading scorer in MLS slipped home a left-footed shot from the top of the box.

In stoppage time, Sam Cronin drilled a cross into the area. Hanyer Mosquera tipped it on toward the far post instead of clearing, and Wondo pounced to equalize. He now has 21 goals this season.
