The Colorado Rapids announced that the club has re-signed goalkeeper Matt Pickens to a multi-year contract extension. Per league and team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
“Matt has been a steady, confident presence behind our defense for several years, and his play keeps improving every season,” said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. “He provides leadership and stability in the back and we’re happy to have signed him to a new deal.”
Pickens, 30, is the club's all-time leader in shutouts, and is tied for the team's all-time lead in wins. He joined the Rapids in 2009 and has played 103 games for Colorado in his four seasons with the club.
“I’m thrilled to sign a new contract with the Rapids, and commit to staying here in Denver,” said Pickens. “I feel good about the direction the Rapids are going in with Oscar (Pareja) leading the way, and we're all working toward the common goal of bringing this club another championship.”
