The midfielder is looking to leave the recently-relegated Bundesliga club, and could be on his way to the Pacific Northwest.
Seattle Sounders FC has confirmed its interest in FC Kaiserslautern captain Christian Tiffert, who was in Seattle Thursday for a visit."Christian is a player who we like but is still under contract with Kaiserslautern. He was here today to see our facilities and visit the club, but discussions of a contract are premature and would include his club," the team said in an email to Goal.com
Tiffert, 30, has spent the past two seasons with FC Kaiserslautern, and was the team's captain this campaign. The team was relegated from the Bundesliga last month, prompting the midfielder to consider his options.
Earlier, the German magazine Kicker reported Tiffert was on his way to the States.
"Christian has traveled to the U.S. to Seattle," FCK chairman Stefan Kuntz said to Kicker. "He will listen to [the Sounders'] offer."
Tiffert is known as a versatile player, who has been used in several midfield positions. His most common position in the Bundesliga was attacking midfielder.
