MLS suspends and fines Seattle Sounders defender Leo Gonzalez

The Major League Soccer disciplinary committee has decided to suspend and fine Seattle Sounders defender Leo Gonzalez for stepping on the leg of Philadelphia Union defender Sheanon Williams while he was down on the pitch. The incident took place in the 88th minute of Seattle's 1-0 win over the Union on May 5.

It was also announced that the league had rescinded the red card of New England forward Fernando Cardenas who was wrongly sent off in the 81st minute of the Revolution's 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake on May 5. The decision came after the club decided to appeal the card.
