The former Real Madrid man was full of praise for the trainer, highlighting his incredible character and mettle, and wished him all the best in the future

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham has lauded Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, who on Friday announced his decision to step down from his position in the summer.

Guardiola, 41, has led the Blaugrana to 13 titles over the last four years and the former Real Madrid man believes the Barca boss should be respected for what he has achieved at Camp Nou.

"Pep is not only a great coach, but also a gentleman," Beckham posted on his official Facebook page.

"I'm a fan of Real Madrid, but I loved the way his team played and he deserves everything he has achieved. I wish him well."

Beckham spent four years with Barcelona's bitter rivals Real Madrid, before joining LA Galaxy in the summer of 2007.
