A David Estrada hat trick was enough to lead the Seattle Sounders to a comfortable win over TFC.
The 24-year-old forward scored all three of Seattle's goal, opening the scoring in the first half and pounding in two more after the break to give his team a comfortable win.
Estrada got the match going in the 17th when he netted his first after a scramble in front of the goal, and had the club 2-0 up six minutes after the break. Between those goals Torsten Frings limped off injured for Toronto.
Ryan Johnson tried to make a game of in the 62nd minute when his left-footed shot found the net, giving some short-lived hope to the visiting side.
But just one minute later Estrada put the match to bed with his third of the night, slipping in behind and finishing to give Seattle a perfect start to its league season after a disappointing end to its CONCACAF Champions League run.
