Hernandez becomes the team's third Homegrown Player.

The Philadelphia Union have announced the signing of Cristhian Hernandez as their third Homegrown Player. Per club and league policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed to the media.

Hernandez, 18, has been a member of the Union's academy and has played in the reserve league and against English Premier League side Everton in a friendly last season. A native of Mexico, Hernandez will occupy one of Philadelphia's international roster spots.

In 2011 Hernandez was named U.S. Soccer U-17/U-18 Development Academy Player of the Year as he netted 16 goals in 26 matches for the Academy.
