Toronto FC has announced the signing of Ecuadorian defender Geovanny Caicedo. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Caicedo brings great club and international experience to Toronto FC and can compete for a starting position,” said Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director, Aron Winter. “He is a player that we have been watching for some time and we felt he would be a good fit at our club and in Major League Soccer.”

A veteran of the Ecuadorian leagues, Caicedo, 30, last played for the same club that current Toronto FC player Joao Plata played for, LDU Quito. He's also been capped eight times by the Ecuadorian national team, and was a member of the 2011 Copa America squad.
