Mustapha Jarju can now take his place among the many Designated Player busts in Major League Soccer. After half a season and 10 MLS appearances, the Gambian and the Vancouver Whitecaps mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

The 25-year-old joined from the Belgian second division and never made enough of an impact to crack the starting lineup consistently.

The Whitecaps also declined the 2012 option on Phillippe Davies' contract.

“We would like to thank Mustapha and Philippe for their contributions during their time at the club. We wish Mustapha and Philippe the very best in their future endeavors,” said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi.
