Montreal Impact select Andrew Wenger with first overall pick of 2012 MLS SuperDraft
The Duke forward is selected first overall in 2012 by Major League Soccer's newest team.

The Montreal Impact selected Duke forward Andrew Wenger first overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft.
Wenger, a starter at Duke is considered a very versatile player who can play up front, in midfield or even in defense, if necessary. During his career with the Blue Devils, he was named both the Defensive and Offensive Player of the Year, something few NCAA players have been able to accomplish.
With the second overall selection, the Vancouver Whitecaps have selected Akron forward Darren Mattocks, a player many thought would go first overall.
Scoring an impressive 39 goals in 47 matches during two years at Akron, the impressive forward outscored former Zips forward Steve Zakuani, Teal Bunbury and Darlington Nagbe who came before him. Known for his speed, Mattocks will likely prove to be a handful for MLS defenses.
The New England Revolution followed with the third pick and selected UCLA Bruin midfield Kelyn Rowe. Known as a attacking midfielder, Rowe spent only two years at UCLA before declaring for the draft.
Currently at Olympic training camp with the U.S. U-23 camp, Rowe looks set to feature for Caleb Porter's team when qualifying begins in March.
