The Colorado Rapids have announced the signing of defender Hunter Freeman after selecting him in the MLS Re-Entry Draft in December. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Hunter’s versatility and experience make him a great addition to the squad ahead of the season,” said Technical Director Paul Bravo. “He’s played for the Rapids before and at a high level in MLS and abroad since then. We’re excited to welcome him back to the club.”
Freeman, 26, was originally drafted 7th overall in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by the Rapids. He would go on to make 47 appearances for the club, including 38 starts. After brief stints with the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC, Freeman signed with Norweigen side, IK Start.
After two seasons in Europe, Freeman returned to MLS with Houston in 2011 and was left unprotected in the Re-Entry Draft.
