Tim Ream's agent has confirmed recent reports that the New York Red Bulls defender is close to joining Premiership side Bolton.
"Negotiations between Major League Soccer and Bolton are at an advanced stage and ongoing," Patrick McCabe told Goal.com via email. "We hope to have a positive resolution for Tim in the next few days."

A source close to the player told ESPN.com earlier that a deal could happen over the weekend.
"There's not such a big gap between the sides," a source told ESPN.com. "There's been significant progress in the last couple of days. Right now both sides are optimistic. There may be a little movement today. It could potentially be done today but more likely over the weekend."
The report suggests a deal in the 2.5-3 million pound range is on the table and that things may be coming to a head more quickly than first anticipated.
Ream, 24, was selected in the second round (18th overall) in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Red Bulls. Since then, he's made 58 appearances for the club, scoring one goal. He's also been capped by the U.S. national team seven times since 2010.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Ream attended St. Louis University before being drafted by New York.
Bolton currently sits in 18th place in the Premier League, and with the impending departure of captain Gary Cahill, it will need additional defensive cover.
