Carlo Ancelotti reveals David Beckham turned down Paris Saint-Germain due to family commitments

Ex-Chelsea boss says the French club could have signed the iconic star if he had not opted to remain in America for personal reasons, but maintains they have a strong relationship

Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that David Beckham rejected a move to the French giants in favour of staying in America due to his family commitments.

Beckham was reportedly set for a move to the Parisian outfit, yet the deal fell through after Ancelotti took control, with the former Manchester United man now likely to sign a further contract with LA Galaxy.

“We had the possibility to have Beckham,” Ancelotti told reporters. “But Beckham decided to stay in Los Angeles because his family requested him.”

The Italian insists he maintains a good relationship with the 36-year-old, possibly leaving the door open for a future spell with the Ligue 1 side.

“It is not our business, we asked him if he wanted to play but he decided to stay. We and the club maintain a good relationship with him and wish him luck for the future.”
