Seattle Sounders midfielder Alvaro Fernandez is fascinated by the possibility of playing in a "top" league, according to his agent.
In an exclusive interview with Goal.com, Luis Aguerre, who represents the 26-year-old, intimated that his client is now keeping an eye out for offers which match his level of ambition, in the wake of reports that Palermo are monitoring his situation.
"The player is interested in playing in a higher level of championship," said the agent. "It all depends on the interest and the seriousness of the project that is proposed to us."
Fernandez previously endured a failed loan spell at Portuguese club Vitoria Setubal in 2009 - his only European adventure to date - but Aguerre was adamant that it was the team's lack of ambition which lead to his ultimately fruitless stint in Portugal.
"The experience at Vitoria Setubal was a very positive one from a human point of view, but not so much from a sporting point of view, as the team failed to fight for important objectives," he maintained.
Serie A has seen an influx of Uruguayan footballers in recent years, with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Walter Gargano, Gaston Ramirez, Diego Perez and Diego Forlan all plying their trade on the peninsula.
