The LA Galaxy announced they have signed Brazilian midfielder Marcelo Fazzio Sarvas on a free transfer, pending the completion of a physical and the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Sarvas, 30, joins the Galaxy from LD Alajuelense in Costa Rica’s Primera Division. He is a central midfielder, who also has the ability to play on either wing. The Galaxy were alerted to his exploits when facing Alajuelense during this season's CONCACAF Champions League.

Sarvas began his career in Brazil before moving to Europe. In Sweden, he played for three clubs: Karlskrona AIF, Mjallby AIF and finally IF Limhamm Brunkefl. He moved to KSP Warszawa in Poland before joining Alajuelense in Jan. 2011.

The midfielder may team up with his countryman Juninho in the center of the park for the Galaxy. The club has made an offer to keep the player, as his loan deal with Sao Paulo expires at the end of the year.
