Sporting Kansas City announced Monday that it had acquired left back Seth Sinovic from the Montreal Impact, in exchange for midfielder Davy Arnaud and allocation money.

Sinovic emerged as a regular for Kansas City in 2011, but the club chose to leave him unprotected in the Nov. 23 expansion draft, where he was selected by the Impact. Now, Sporting has re-acquired him, sending veteran midfielder Davy Arnaud the other way.

"After many discussions and considerations, both parties have come to an agreement," Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes said. "On behalf of Sporting, we would like to thank Davy for his service with the club and wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors."

Arnaud, 31, has played his whole professional career at Kansas City, after he was picked 50th overall in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft. Arnaud has scored 43 goals and tallied 35 assists over 240 appearances during his time with the club, though his 2011 season was hampered by injury. He has also scored once in seven appearances with the U.S. men's national team.

"I am very thankful to Sporting Kansas City, the organization and the fans. I made this my home for 10 years and am so proud to have been a part of the great soccer growth in Kansas City," Arnaud said. "I look forward to my next challenge and playing in Montreal, but will never forget the wonderful times we shared here."

Sinovic, 24, looks set for his second season with Sporting Kansas City. Sinovic was originally drafted 50th overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, but was waived a few weeks into the 2011 season. He was signed by Sporting on May 10, 2011 and started 20 games.

"We’re very happy to be in a position where we could bring back Seth," Vermes said. "We felt that over the course of last season he developed and became a big part of our team. We put an emphasis on reacquiring Seth and keeping him in his home town."
