Fresh off another outstanding MLS campaign which saw him take home the Castrol Index Player of the Year award, San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski says he's open to a move abroad, but is also content to stay in San Jose.

“I would love to if the situation is right, I'm definitely very open to going over to Europe," the 28-year-old told Goal.com exclusively.

Wondolowski has put together two stellar seasons in a row with the Quakes. He scored 18 times in 2010 en route to winning the MLS Golden Boot, and followed that up with 16 goals in 2011, which earned him the Castrol Index Player of the Year.

The Castrol award takes into account offensive statistics such as shots on goal and conversion rates, as well as other metrics designed to measure overall effectiveness.

“It's a huge honor," Wondolowski said of winning the award. "It rewards people for scoring goals, for having assists, for making productive passes, and so all those things are very crucial to this game."

The forward's good form earned him a call to the U.S. national team for this summer's Gold Cup, but he failed to make an impact at the tournament, and has not played for the team since Jurgen Klinsmann took over in August.

When asked if he's heard anything from the new U.S. coach, Wondolowski simply replied, "No."

It's possible a move abroad could succeed in grabbing the German's attention, and Wondolowski revealed he's had no shortage of suitors come calling over the past year.

“I know Feyenoord from over in Holland was pretty interested earlier this year and a couple other Scandinavian teams," he said.

Though he's open to a European move, Wondolowski also insisted he's happy in his current situation as well.

"I also want to say that I love it in San Jose and love it here in the States,” the striker said.

Earthquake fans will welcome that quote following a disappointing 2011 season for the team overall. If they hope to turn it around in 2012, the Quakes will need their team MVP to be firing on all cylinders again.
