Major League Soccer isn't all that bad after all.

That was the message Torsten Frings passed along to German media this week upon his return to Werder Bremen, where he was the club's captain prior to joining Toronto FC this season.

"The level is obviously not as high as in the Bundesliga but it is not as bad as it is always made out to be. Everything is extremely professional. Especially in our club," the 34-year-old midfielder told Werder Bremen's official website.

Frings compared Major League Soccer to the Bundesliga's second division due to the lack of technique and tactics, according to Bild. But he believes the league's talent would improve if the salary-cap numbers increase and more designated players are added.

"The problem is getting the top players into the league," Frings told Werder Bremen's site. "That is because of the salary cap. That makes salaries low compared to European leagues."

Frings, who won 79 caps for the German national team, also enjoys the CONCACAF Champions League. He likes the idea of playing in places like Mexico and Nicaragua, where he his team has played in knee-high grass and high altiudes and has been escorted to the pitch by armed guards.

"To play there is a great adventure," he told Bild.

Frings is currently training with his former club but will return to Toronto next season.
