FC Dallas ran out to a 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps with goals from Marvin Chavez and Brek Shea.
"I think obviously, Dallas was a step ahead of us in a lot of aspects of the game today," Vancouver defender Jeb Brovsky said of the match. "It’s very disappointing to be honest. I think we didn’t come out with the same foot forward as we did in BC Place the last two games, so it’s real disappointing."
Chavez opened the scoring 35 minutes. After Kevin Hartman's clearance was flicked on by Shea in the midfield, Chavez rushed in on goal and calmly picked his spot.
Chavez thought he had doubled the advantage just after the break when Shea beat his man down the line and sent a ball across the face of goal. The forward touched it home, but was rightly ruled offside.
Dallas wouldn't have to wait long for a security goal though. Shea's finish came in the 54th after a free kick was allowed to bounced around in Vancouver's box for too long before falling to the lanky winger, who pounded it into the net to give the match it's final scoreline.
“People were fighting in the box and it kind of came right to me and I just put it on target," Shea said of his goal.
Vancouver becomes only the fourth side ever to finish an MLS season without an away win.
“We’re still looking for our first road win, so it’s disappointing that we finished without one," Whitecaps manager Tom Soehn said. "But we still go back home, we’ve had a good stretch at home, great fan base and we want to give them something to be happy about.”
