thumbnail Hello,

Philadelphia climbs into the top six in this week's Rankings after its 2-0 win at Seattle on Saturday.

1. Los Angeles – Do not expect to see Landon Donovan or Robbie Keane in MLS play until the postseason commences. (1)

2. Seattle – Not even in-form Sounders FC could avoid the inevitable Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup hangover. (2)

3. Real Salt Lake – The sky isn't falling in Sandy, though recent results have inspired people to predict that it might. (3)

4. Sporting Kansas City – File Saturday's home date with New York into the critical category. Peter Vermes' side does not want to drop into the wild card mess. (4)

5. Colorado – Expect the Rapids to relish another gritty Rocky Mountain derby affair with Real Salt Lake on Friday night. (5)

6. Philadelphia – Maybe there is a team out there capable of doing what is required to seal the top seed in the Eastern Conference. (8)

7. Columbus – One point may suffice, but three points looks like the required take from Saturday's trip to New England. (7)

8. FC Dallas – A pair of winnable games this week against Chicago and Vancouver – and Brek Shea's first half against Honduras – could provide the impetus for a revival. (6)

9. Houston – Surely Dom Kinnear kept a trick or two from John Spencer for situations like these, right?  (9)

10. New York – No team wants to see the Red Bulls in the playoffs. Forget about the midseason failings: this team still looms as a potential MLS Cup threat. (10)

11. Portland – If the Timbers plan to inject some last-day drama into the postseason mix, then they must emerge with a victory over Houston on Friday. (11)

12. D.C. United – United can't seem string together a pair of positive results to secure its playoff life right now … (12)

13. Chicago – … but it could finally eliminate the Fire from the reckoning if Frank Klopas' side remains alive after its date with FCD on Wednesday. (13)

14. Chivas USA – Every game against Los Angeles matters. Just ask Juan Pablo Ángel. (14)

15. San Jose – This one-man band must expand next season in order to compete in the Western Conference. (15)

16. Toronto FC – TFC has shown well enough over the past few weeks to take a point (or three) off Philadelphia at PPL Park on Saturday. (16)

17. Vancouver – Give the Whitecaps credit: they expended more than enough energy against Real Salt Lake to secure their first win at B.C. Place. (18)

18. New England – Steve Nicol's side has conceded a league-high 14 goals in the final quarter of an hour. (17)
