Houston Dynamo to announce Mike Chabala trade on Thursday

Houston will deal fullback Mike Chabala, Goal.com has learned. The official deal will be announced Thursday.
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo have reached an agreement to trade 27-year-old defender Mike Chabala.

Details of the deal were not available, but a Dynamo spokesperson said an agreement has been reached in principle.

Chabala did not suit up in Wednesday night's friendly against English Premier side Bolton Wanders FC. Fellow Dynamo defensive midfielder Lovel Palmer also missed out against Bolton.

Palmer said on Twitter earlier today that he was going green, but later deleted the post, fueling speculation of a deal to either the Seattle Sounders or the Portland Timbers. Chabala and Palmer are already familiar with current Portland head coach John Spencer, who was an assistant coach with Houston from 2006 through 2010.

Chabala has seen a significant drop in playing time for the Dynamo this season, fueling speculation of a potential trade. The fullback broke through in 2009, and played 25 matches in 2010, scoring a lone goal in the process.

The Dynamo will officially announce a deal on Thursday.
