The Houston Dynamo bounced back from a forgettable week with a scoreless draw against Real Salt Lake Saturday.

Houston lost two matches last week, both 2-1, so the side felt good to get a point, especially at a difficult road venue like Rio Tinto Stadium.

“Both teams put themselves in position to maybe get a goal and it didn't work out,” Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear said. “We want to get three, but we walk off with one. I think the guys should be pretty proud.”

Despite a wide open second half and attacking substitutions from both sides, the match between Real Salt Lake and the Houston Dynamo ended in a scoreless draw. Koke made a late appearance for Houston in an effort to get the result, but he was unable to make his mark on the match.

“The back four was playing pretty well, and the midfield was playing pretty well,” Kinnear said. “Anytime you can bring in fresh legs up front, it helps you hold the ball better and play defense a little better.”

Both sides had great opportunities to score, but neither was able to put a goal away. Alvaro Saborio and Arturo Alvarez put goals into the back of the net for Salt Lake, but both plays were called offside.

On the other side, forward Will Bruin and Koke both had shots on goal saved by Salt Lake keeper Nick Rimando.

“We had chances to put the ball in the back of the net,” midfielder Geoff Cameron said. “I thought we dominated most of the game in the second half.”

Still, the Dynamo were pleased to get a point and end their two match losing streak.

“We played well,” Bruin said. “It could have gone our way, but we'll take the tie.”
