Reigning MLS MVP David Ferreira suffers right ankle fracture

It is not known how long Ferreira is set to be out.
Reigning MLS MVP David Ferreira suffered a right ankle fracture in Saturday’s 2-1 road win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, X-rays confirmed. Surgery to repair the double fracture has not yet been scheduled, pending evaluation by team doctors upon returning to Dallas.

Ferreira left the field on a stretcher in the 52nd minute after a challenge from behind, and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Ferreira played all but one minute of all FC Dallas matches during the 2010 season. The team and league MVP, Ferreira recorded eight goals and 13 assists during the 2010 campaign for the Western Conference Champions. In 2011, Ferreira has started all six FC Dallas games and leads the team with three goals and one assist.
