Soccer By Ives reports that Canadian star Dwayne DeRosario has been traded to the New York Red Bulls for Tony Tchani, Danleigh Borman and a first round pick in 2012, and that the deal will be made public later this afternoon.

“We have acquired two very strong players that I believe will have an immediate and long-term impact at our club. I’d like to thank Dwayne for all his contributions to Toronto FC and wish him well with his new club in New York,” said Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director Aron Winter. "It is unfortunate to have to trade our captain, but this deal is part of our rebuild process and helps to open cap room for our club.”

Reports suggest that the deal may have hit some snags but could be completed at some point today or this weekend. The trouble mostly involves roster spots. Houston Dynamo, DeRosario's former home are also interested in the player.

The article even had a disclaimer in it about not being a joke after the site had reported earlier in the day that Teal Bunbury had switched back to playing for Canada.

DeRosario and Toronto F.C. have seemed to be on the verge of parting ways for some time now and it seems the former Houston Dynamo star has finally found his way out of town and the club has found a deal that would bring good value back in for him.
