thumbnail Hello,

San Jose adds depth in attack.

The San Jose Earthquakes signed forward Ellis McLoughlin, the team announced Thursday.

The 20-year-old was a product of the residency program in Bradenton, Florida, and led the United States U17 team in scoring from 2005-2007. McLoughlin started three games and made one substitute appearance in the 2007 U17 World Cup.

After a year at the University of Washington, McLoughlin joined Hertha Berlin, in Germany. However, injuries scuppered his time there, and the striker returned Stateside.

Despite an over reliance on Chris Wondolowski for scoring last season, San Jose has a fair few striking options, with both Scott Sealy and Ryan Johnson able to play in the middle of Frank Yallop's new 4-3-3 formation.
