Pat Phelan has signed a new deal with the New England Revolution, the club announced Monday. The ginger midfielder made a team-high 28 appearances in 2010, adding some bite to both the midfield and defense.
With further personnel set to join the Revs and the presence of captain Shalrie Joseph in the middle, Phelan likely faces more competition for playing time in 2011. That didn't deter the 26-year-old or the club from renewing their partnership, however.
“Pat has played significant minutes for us during the past two seasons and is a professional both on and off the field.” Revolution Vice President of Player Personnel Michael Burns said in a statement. “We’re pleased he has reached a new agreement to remain with the Revs.”
