thumbnail Hello,

The Galaxy's Jamaican goalkeeper will no longer take up an international player spot on the roster.

The Los Angeles Galaxy announced Friday that Donovan Ricketts has received his U.S. green card, meaning that the goalkeeper is now a permanent resident of the United States and will no longer occupy an international roster spot.

The 33-year-old Jamaican international is a two-time MLS All-Star and most recently won the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2010. He holds the Galaxy's single-season goals-against average record after posting an impressive 0.90 GAA in 2010 and is expected to continue as the Galaxy's first-choice 'keeper as they push for the MLS Cup title in 2011.

With MLS's new rules on international players, Ricketts no longer counts towards the eight international players that the Galaxy are permitted on their 2011 roster.
